Lumpsum Calculator
Have a bonus, maturity amount or sale proceeds to invest? See how a one-time investment could grow.
How this calculator works
A lumpsum grows by compounding: FV = P × (1 + r)t, where r is the yearly return and t is the number of years.
Things to keep in mind
- Investing a large amount in equity all at once carries timing risk. A Systematic Transfer Plan (STP) spreads it over 6–12 months.
- Park the money in a liquid or arbitrage fund first, then move it to equity through STP.
- Match the fund to the goal date, not to recent returns.
FAQs
Lumpsum or SIP – which is better?
For regular income, SIP builds discipline. For money you already have, lumpsum or STP puts it to work sooner. Read our SIP vs Lumpsum guide.
What return should I assume?
Long-term equity: 10–12%. Hybrid: 8–10%. Debt: 6–7%. These are assumptions, not promises.
