SWP Calculator
A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) pays you a fixed amount every month from your mutual fund. See how long your money lasts.
How this calculator works
Each month the withdrawal is paid out and the remaining balance earns the assumed return. If the withdrawal is larger than what the corpus earns, the balance falls and eventually runs out.
Things to keep in mind
- Keep withdrawals near 5–6% of the corpus a year if you want the money to last 25 years or more.
- SWP is often more tax-efficient than interest income, because only the gain portion of each withdrawal is taxed.
- Keep 1–2 years of withdrawals in a low-risk fund to avoid selling equity in a falling market.
FAQs
Is SWP a pension?
It works like one, but the income is not guaranteed. It depends on fund returns.
Can I change the SWP amount?
Yes. You can raise, lower or stop the withdrawal at any time.
