NPS Calculator

The National Pension System builds a retirement corpus at low cost, with extra tax benefits. See your likely corpus and pension at 60.

How this calculator works

Your monthly contribution grows until 60 at the expected return. At 60, non-government subscribers must use at least 20% of the corpus to buy an annuity that pays a monthly pension (government employees 40%). The rest can be taken as a lumpsum; up to 60% of the total corpus is tax-free.

Things to keep in mind

  • Younger investors can choose a higher equity share (up to 75%) for better long-term growth.
  • Ask your employer about corporate NPS. Employer contributions reduce tax in both regimes.
  • NPS is locked until 60, so use it alongside more flexible investments.

FAQs

Is NPS pension taxable?

Up to 60% of the corpus withdrawn at 60 is tax-free. The pension from the annuity is added to your income and taxed at your slab.

How much can I withdraw at 60?

After PFRDA amendments in December 2025, non-government subscribers can withdraw up to 80% as lumpsum and must annuitise at least 20%. If the total corpus is ₹8 lakh or less, the full amount can be withdrawn.

Can I withdraw early?

Partial withdrawals are allowed after 3 years for specific needs like children's education, marriage or illness, up to 25% of your own contributions.
